Welcome to the Fairview High School Math Club! Our purpose is to promote interest and excitement about mathematics in a friendly, collaborative environment!

We extend our mathematical knowledge and critical thinking skills acquired in math class by practicing math contest problems during our weekly practices. These math problems stimulate the mind and enhance our pattern recognition and logical reasoning capabilities.

These contest math problems are quite different from the math that you do in your math classes at school; they're more logic-based, and only require an understanding of basic algebra and geometry. They are also a lot more fun! If you get stuck on any of the problems, feel free to ask for help. We take a casual approach in Math Club!

Among other activities, we participate in several math contests throughout the year, including Math League, UNC Math Contest, Colorado Math Olympiad, and the AMC. Below are brief descriptions of each:

  • CSU Math Day: CSU Math Day is back! Individual (PROBE) and Team (college bowl-type) competition.

  • Who Wants to be a Mathematician: Speed-focused online test. 15 minutes for 10 questions. No calculator allowed.

  • Math League: 6 rounds from October-March of 30 minutes each. Calculator is allowed.

  • UNC Math Contest: Consists of a qualifying round in early November and a final round in late January.

  • Colorado Math Olympiad: Individual, proof-based test consisting of 5 problems in 4 hours. Must be excused from class on that Friday to go to UC-Colorado Springs for the contest.

  • American Math Competitions: AMC 10/12 in February. Consists of 25 multiple choice questions in 75 minutes.
