FAIRVIEW CHORAL MUSIC PROGRAM

Key Performance Dates 2024/2025

Fairview High School has had a long history of high-quality extensive choral music programs with seven separate choirs covering a variety of musical styles and eras. They are: Age Of Guinevere, Chivalry, Court of Charlemagne, Enchantment, Excalibur, Festival, and Voices of the Knight.

Fairview choirs are renowned throughout the region and various groups are invited annually to perform at the prestigious Colorado Music Educator's Conference, held at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.

CHORAL GROUPS

Age of Guinevere (N67)

Age of Guinevere was created in 2007, by director Janice Vlachos, after several seniors expressed a desire to sing in a SA jazz choir. Now part of the regular accredited curriculum, rehearsing five hours a week, Age of Guinevere is one of nine performing choral groups at Fairview.

This is a small elite choir composed of sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Each of the members of Age of Guinevere also participates in one of the traditional choirs offered at Fairview. Throughout the year, Age of Guinevere performs in four school choral concerts, at the CHSAA and UNC Jazz Festivals, at the South Boulder Area Festival, and during Fairview’s Evening of Open Enrollment. Some years also involve performing at other venues throughout the country.

Enchantment (N62)

Excalibur (N68)

Excalibur is an elite, mixed jazz choir consisting of upper classmen. They cover a variety of styles including jazz, pop, and musical theatre, and incorporate occasional choreography. This is an auditioned choir which has many extracurricular expectations in addition to the traditional choir concerts. This group is expected to perform in annual Pop Show and competes in the CHSAA and Greeley Jazz Festivals. Members of Excalibur are required to attend two morning sectionals and must also participate in a traditional choir.
