KIMBERLY BUTLER (Teacher Librarian)

I have been a Teacher Librarian for 16 years and I am currently teaching in a half time position at Creekside Elementary as well as half time at Fairview. I have a k-6 teaching license as well as a k-12 School Library endorsement. I have a masters degree in school library and leadership as well as a Type D (Principal) license.

I was a recipient of the Highly Effective School Library designation for Birch elementary and I hold a few credentials for Creekside as well. In 2014 I was awarded the ISTE/InnEdCo Making IT Happen award. I love incorporating STEAM traits into my instruction within the school's library programming.

A bit about myself; I hold a Master of Science degree in Gifted, Talented and Creative and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. For the past 23 years, I have taught Science and Gifted classes, been an AP Coordinator/Graduation coach,a Landman and been the head librarian in both elementary and middle school libraries.

I am now happily retired from teaching in Mississippi and fortunate enough to land in Boulder at Fairview High School. I feel it is the best in all the land!

I have three children, one lives in California, two live in Boulder and two grandchildren who hopefully will one day attend Fairview!

This is my first year at Fairview High School, and I’m excited to join the library team as a paraeducator. I hold degrees in English, Computer Science, and Maritime Studies, and I bring a lifelong passion for learning across disciplines.

I’ve worked with students of all ages in settings ranging from tutoring to outdoor education, and I’m especially passionate about helping students explore their interests, develop strong research skills, and connect their learning to the wider world. Outside of work, I’m often trail running, getting lost in the woods, or getting lost in a good book.
