Fairview High School

Established in 1960, Fairview High School, home of the Knights, is located in beautiful South Boulder, Colorado. Fairview is recognized nationally for its four pillars of excellence: academics, athletics, arts, and activities. By most measures, Fairview ranks in the top 1% out of all high schools in the nation. We provide students with a variety of rich pathways to explore talents, passions, and interests. We are dedicated to supporting our students’ success. We value student voice and cultivate student leadership. Irwin Award

Granted in  2022, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2014, 2013, 2012  by the Colorado Department of Education (CDC)

The John Irwin awards are given to schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement over time. These schools received an Exceeds Expectations rating on the Academic Achievement indicator of the School Performance Frameworks
reflecting exceptional performance in Math, English Language Arts, and Science.The Excellence Awards are named for a true friend and visionary of education, former Colorado State Representative, John J. Irwin.

2020 ENR Mountain States best projects Award of Merit, k-12 education

Granted in 2020 by RTA is excited to share that the Fairview High School Renovations project, completed with Adolfson & Peterson Construction in 2019, has been honored by Engineering News-Record Mountain States with a K-12 Award of Merit. 

 


 

WHY IS FAIRVIEW SPECIAL?

Fairview High School (FHS) is located in Boulder, Colorado, home of the University of Colorado. Boulder is a scholarly community of 111,508 residents dedicated to education, technology, the arts and recreation. FHS, established in 1960, is a comprehensive four-year public high school with a rich tradition of providing students a rigorous academic program. This is accomplished under the guidance of 120 faculty members, averaging 14 years of teaching experience with 79 masters’ and 7 doctoral degrees. Our curriculum is designed to challenge the potential of each student and includes a college preparatory curriculum, and an advanced level curriculum (weighted); details below.

FHS also has an extensive program for students with special learning needs. Fairview is the only IB school in Colorado (of 32) continuously awarded U.S. News' highest ranking (Gold) since the inception of the ranking system. FHS was ranked by NICHE as the 3rd Best Public High School in the State of Colorado. Students who graduate from FHS are prepared to be highly successful in a globally competitive society. They are accomplished academically and also excel in sports, music and the arts.

Our school is home to :

  • 25 varsity sports
  • 8 choirs,
  • 5 bands
  • 2 orchestras
  • Multiple theater productions and more than 50 clubs.

Students routinely win awards and state championships in athletic, artistic and scholarly competitions. At the national level, our students have been selected as U.S. Presidential Scholars have won titles at the Intel Science Talent Search and National History Day competitions and our school frequently has the highest number of National Merit Finalists in the State of Colorado.
